Explore Ham Fen, the last surviving fen in Kent, on a 2.5-hour walking tour and hear all about the project to reintroduce beaver to the site from a knowledgeable guide.
You’ll learn about the once native beaver, which were reintroduced to the site in 2001 as part of Kent Wildlife Trust’s plans to create a wilder Kent. You’ll look for evidence of these ‘water engineers’ at the fen and find out about their ability to slow running water, create pools and marshes, and the benefits this has started having on the landscape and other wildlife at the reserve.
