Nestled in the beautiful countryside of the Downs between Canterbury and Ashford, The Compasses Inn at Crundale is one of Kent’s most acclaimed gastropubs.
Husband and wife team Rob and Donna Taylor describe the pub as a "muddy wellies and fine food kind of place", and their experience and passion for what they do is evident in the quality of the food and drink.
Inside, the 14th century pub is cosy and welcoming, with traditional oak beamed ceilings and a toasty log fire on colder days. Outside, there is a large garden to enjoy in summer.
Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the pub’s rural location provides access to high quality local meats from farms as little as ¼ of a mile away, and with fruit and veg homegrown in the garden, you really can’t get produce fresher or more locally sourced.
It is no wonder then that The Compasses has been honoured with a host of accolades including retaining its Michelin BIB Gourmand for two years, and two AA Rosettes for three years. The pub has been in the Top 50 Gastropub Awards for 4 years, and was named Best Food Pub at the Great British Pub Awards in 2018.
