The Tom Thumb Theatre was originally built as a Victorian coach house. In 1984, the building was transformed into one of the smallest theatres in the world. The Theatre is a striking mix of Japanese and Alpine Architecture, with a quirky, charming interior of velvet seats and flocked wallpaper.
The Tom Thumb hosts spoken-word nights, comedy, story-telling, and burlesque. We screen indie films and promote live bands, solo performers, and DJs. Through a programme of residencies, we support and nurture cutting-edge theatre and experimental performance from across the country.
There is a bar, and soon-to-be restaurant, for pre and post show drinks.
Access Information
There is one step to the entrance, and a ramp is available for use, with prior notice. Someone is able to assist, if prior notice is given.
The Theatre itself is on one level, but the bar is upstairs with no lift or alternative access. The Theatre is very small and dimly-lit at times.
There are no accessible toilets available on site, and parking is on-road with no designated accessible bays.
