Hawkhurst Gang Bonfire and Torch Light Procession

23rd November 2019

The Hawkhurst Gang Bonfire Society put on their traditional costumes from the 1600s and celebrate Guy Fawkes' Night with the rest of the Bonfire Societies who are invited from across Kent and Sussex to join the procession.

The Hawkhurst region is known for it's smuggling heritage. It is also famed for its huge Bonfire Night. Their traditional torch bearing procession through the village is hotly anticipated as being one of the largest and most traditional in the Tunbridge Wells region.

The Hawkhurst Gang Bonfire Society put on their traditional costumes from the 1600s and celebrate Guy Fawkes' Night with the rest of the Bonfire Societies who are invited from across Kent and Sussex to join the procession.

The sight is a wonder to behold with flames aloft lighting up the main Hastings road in the village towards the romantically named green ,'The Moor'. The Beacon is then lit and the bonfire also bathes the area in orange to the oohs and aahs of the crowd!

It is boasted that the fireworks here are the loudest in the area! Beverages of all kinds and food will be available to purchase from the playing field opposite as well as the local pub overlooking The Moor. Come and take part in one of the most goosebumps-raising spectacles in the countryside!
