Open Day at Kent's Replica World War One Trench

14th November 2021
Kent Event Centre
Experience life in a World War 1 trench - without even having to set foot in France. Renowned military historian Andy Robertshaw has created a replica trench system at the Kent County Showground, complete with dugouts, machine-gun positions, latrine and f irst-aid post. Come along to the trench's open day on Sunday 14 November (12 noon -4pm) for a tour of the trench with military experts from the recently formed Centre for Experimental Military Archaeology on hand to answer all your questions. If travelling to France is just too difficult right now, then look no further for a fascinating afternoon. No booking required and no fee, although donations will be most welcome. The trench system is now fully open for half-day school/army group visits. The open day presents a brilliant opportunity for teachers to look at the site and all it offers before booking a group visit. Sensible footwear (wellington boots) advised.
