Riverside Country Park is the home of this fun-packed free day out for the whole family. With an entire day of festivities from 11am until 5pm

Celebrating St George’s Day and the most iconic and ironic English historic and modern traditions, from donkey rides to helter skelter, live music and a George and the Dragon show, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

With an action-packed programme there will be plenty to choose from for the whole family. With a funfair, car displays, live shows and even an opportunity to get your picture with a look-a-like Queen!

Easter Egg Hunt

Find 10 eggs located around The English Festival and receive a prize.
Collect your form from the bingo tent first – good luck!

Punch and Judy

There will be several Punch and Judy shows throughout the day. Timings for these are: 11:30am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm

Pig Racing

This year there will be Pig races taking place every hour of the festival. The exact times are :11:30am, 12:15pm, 1pm, 2:15pm, 3pm and 3:45pm

The English Festival will have a jubilee twist this year

A Jubilee Twist

As this year marks the platinum jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen, some of the festivities will have a jubilee-themed twist. 

There will be a cake decorating competition themed around the jubilee where you can display your creativity. Cakes need to be entered and left at the WI tea tent by 12pm. Judging by the public is until 3pm, then the results will be announced on the bandstand stage at 3.35pm.

Parking Options

  • On-site parking field- 10am to 6pm. £5 per vehicle, Blue Badge Holders free. Cash only.
  • Park & Walk- Bloors Wharf 10am to 6pm. £2 per vehicle, Blue Badge Holders free. Cash only.
  • Park & Ride from University of Greenwich, Chatham Maritime. 10am to 6pm. 15 minute service, last bus leaves Riverside Country Park at 6pm. £1 per person, 16 and under free. Buses are wheelchair accessible and accept contactless or cash payments.

New for '22 - Nu-Venture shuttle bus to The English Festival

A shuttle bus will run every 30 minutes from the following locations: Chatham Bus Station (stop C16), Medway Park, Jeffery Street, Richmond Road (Trinity Road stop), The Strand and Riverside Country Park. Return in reverse. Cost and terms are the same as the Park and Ride.

  • Chatham Bus Station (stop C16) – first bus at 10.06am, 10.36am, then every 30 minutes until 4.36pm
  • Medway Park – first bus at 10.25am, 10.44am, 11.14am, then every 30 mins until 4.44pm
  • Jeffery Street – first bus at 10.27am, 10.46am, 11.16am, then every 30 mins until 4.46pm
  • Richmond Road (Trinity Road stop) – first bus at 10.29am, 10.48am, 11.18am, then every 30 mins until 4.48pm
  • The Strand (Pier Road stop) – first bus 10.31am, 10.50am, 11.20am, then every 30 mins until 4.50pm

Buses return from Riverside Country Park – first bus at 11am, 11.30am, then every 30 mins. Last bus at 6pm.
