Valentine's Day: Home Edition

Alex Valentine
8th February 2021

If the days of the week have all merged into one and you haven't been too interested in looking ahead in the diary for a while (us too!), we’re here to remind you that we’ve said goodbye to January and Valentine’s Day is coming up this Sunday. And while nothing says romance like spending 24/7 with your loved one for months on end, we think that this is the year to put in that extra bit of effort to make it a special weekend. Whether you’re after a gift to purchase without leaving your house or ways to bring date night out-in, we’ll help you put some romance back in the air this February.

Table for two please

Grab the candles and use the excuse to get out the fancy tableware as you enjoy restaurant quality cuisine from the comfort of your own home this Valentines Day. Whether you’re ordering from the spectacular takeaway menu at The Chilston Park Hotel in Maidstone, indulging in a takeaway pizza from Lubens Folkestone, or going all out for five-course fine dining at Rocksalt Folkestone, let the chefs take over this Valentine's Day.

Chef for the day

If your other half fancies themselves a little bit of a Gordon Ramsey, leave the takeaways for another night and get them everything they need to get stuck in the kitchen! Hythe Imperial are offering a Valentines Day menu with everything you need to recreate a selection of their dishes at home!

For the foodie

If you know your partner's one true love would really be food, the gift has got to be a Macknade goodie bag. Order in some special local goods from their online store or go all out with their gift bundles. Got a vegan Valentine? Folkestone’s Plamil Foods has produced a gift box of organic and dairy free chocolate hearts so no one has to miss out.

Get in the romantic spirit

Maidstone Distillery is ready to take you and your Valentine through a virtual spirit tour! Recreate their iconic G&T’s accompanied by an expert tutored tasting of both their George Bishop and Ranscombe Wild gins. Stay-cation next year, stay-tasting this year…

High tea at home

If an afternoon of refinement and relaxation is the perfect plan for your Valentine's Day Sunday, why not indulge in a takeaway afternoon tea from some of Kent’s best spots for afternoon tea? From The Mad Hatter’s Tea Room in Margate to Bessie’s Tea Parlour in Broadstairs and Hythe Imperial Hotel, there's a local spot for a spot of tea.

Cosy night in

Whilst the weather outside is still pretty frightful this February, a gift from Romney Marsh Wools is the perfect way to stay cute but cosy! Their couple gift boxes include rich lanolin toiletries and relaxing lavender oils, to wool throws perfect for movie night.

If music be the food of love…

Shakespeare once wrote, "if music be the food of love, play on" and we’re never one to question The Bard. Giving the gift of a future date at Leeds Castle Concert with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to enjoy together in July is the ideal thing to look forward to in the months ahead. The iconic annual event set in the spectacular grounds of the ‘Loveliest Castle in the World’ is definitely the way to welcome live music events back in to our lives.

Roses for romance

Roses are red, violets are blue, if you’re mad about roses, Godinton House can help you! Their practical workshop run by Head Gardener Viv Hunt on choosing, planting and pruning gorgeous roses is the ideal gift for a green-fingered lover. All held in the idyllic surroundings of Godinton, this will be the gift that keeps on giving - we can’t wait to see those beautiful displays come spring…

The outdoorsy other-half

If the special person in your life is a lover of gardening, nature, being outdoors or getting to grips with hands-on activities - then a workshop at Brogdale Collections is the ideal Valentine's gift. Their selection of courses includes bee keeping, cider making, gardening, willow weaving, foraging walks, hedgerow wine making and more.

Canoe be my Valentine?

This Valentine’s Day, why not treat those you love to a paddle excursion with Canoe Wild. Whether it is a romantic Canoe for Two or a full family day out, their gift vouchers will allow you to say 'I love you' in a truly unique way.
